About Israel |
| |
There are so many ways to describe Israel. It is the place where Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven, the promised land of the Jews and the birthplace of Jesus. It is a hotspot for war and conflict, and the target for numerous international mediation efforts. But above all, it is one of the most strikingly beautiful and interesting destinations with diverse landscapes and spectacular mixture of old and new. |

It is worthwhile to use US dollars in Israel, as most Israelis are familiar with US dollars. Most upscale hotels, HI hostels and car companies accept payment in US dollars, and if you pay this way you'll save yourself 17% VAT.
Major International Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere and most banks have ATMs. As commission charges are very high at places look around for a good deal at no-commission currency exchange bureaus.
Banks & Money Changers
Always check on the commission charged by the banks and convert large sums of money to avoid losing money with each transaction. Post Offices usually have the best rates and charge very little commission. ATMs in Israel are open twenty-four hours a day. Except for smaller establishments credit cards are accepted everywhere.
